Actually, guests can't view the forum - you have to register. So keep an eye on the names at the bottom of the screen!Francis wrote:There were a couple of 'guests' lurking on the forum at some point too (so they didn't even have to register).

Or we may have to somehow triagulate the location of landmark in Oxford from information on the 3 clocks.

Can guests not read posts if the forum is set up differently? I used to run a forum where guests could read posts just not post themselves. So how is being hidden different? Are they registered are not? Either way, we have lurkers here who know what's going down!

Re: 2nd email from Spearman - "Part two of three" (2:08 clock)
Hi this is my first post....I have been reading all the posts. Very interesting....I was thinking along the matrix thing too.
I got the message from spearman just now....I am lost as to what all of this means. But have theories similar to the ones posted here.

i also think that maybe the clock tower in oxford is a good start as a starting point but may be mistaken. either the last email (i.e part 3 of 3) will give us clues to decipher it or be another clock in which case that will give us another triangle :S

So what can guests do? look at the log-in/register screen?!
I think hidden people are ones who have registered, but have changed their online status to hidden (under 'preferences' in the 'profile' tab)

Re: 2nd email from Spearman - "Part two of three" (2:08 clock)
So can someone confirm for me we are looking at a location in Oxford???
Re: 2nd email from Spearman - "Part two of three" (2:08 clock)
So I'm assuming that we're going to get another spearman clock tomorrow, and we're supposed to use the numbers. How many numbers are there for longitude / latitude ? Assuming also that Darkmanlox is correct that spearman can't be trusted, we'll have to substitute one of Spearman's numbers for Lox's?

I have the feeling that only the 3.31 and the 2.08 clock relate to eachother so far. Both are from Spearman and he said that this 2. mail that it was "part 2 of 3". One mail (and clock?) to come.
And Lox' clock might indicate something different maybe.

Hi Nicki,
We don't know for certain, but if you put together Spearman and DarkmanLox, the anagram is: Map near Ox landmarks.
Lewis Carroll (who wrote Alice in Wonderland) studied in Oxford, and there are all kinds of Alice things there. There are a few clock towers - Carfax tower in the town, and then a couple on colleges, one of which is Christ Church.

Again, I might be wrong, but most forums I've visited as a guest lets you view posts but doesn't allow you to post a reply. As I didn't set this forum up I don't know what the settings are.

So does that mean that this comp might be splitting off into two tangents or something?

I think Lox's clock is a compass, and Spearman's clocks are separate. In the emails, they've been telling us to not tell each other about them.

Re: 2nd email from Spearman - "Part two of three" (2:08 clock)
Yep, guests get a lovely view of the log-in screen
For those asking about being hidden - it's under "Preferences", within your Profile settings. Not difficult to change..I think the best way to check if someone is lurking, whilst in "hidden mode", is to check the Memberlist, to see who has been active recently - if there's a name there that you didn't see before, there's your lurker!
Edit: Gah! These threads are moving WAY too fast for me!

Re: 2nd email from Spearman - "Part two of three" (2:08 clock)
I think so, yes. Lox after all told us to "not believe everything Spearman said".
Both giving us different hints to shoot into different directions, thus making us rivals on the price? Something like that? I'm new to the ARG-thing, but Lox' first email gave me the impression of him and Spearman not exaclty being best friends

Re: 2nd email from Spearman - "Part two of three" (2:08 clock)
I asked Spearman about south west and he said no. I asked Lox if south west has anything to do with it, and he said 'there will be further information for you'. Leading me to think we've got it right re. the compass.

Re: 2nd email from Spearman - "Part two of three" (2:08 clock)
i do think we are right about the compass, probably right about the red being north but think it'll be very hard to crack the whole thing till we have the "third email" from spearman :S till then i think we can only speculate but i am pretty sure oxford will be involved. Also i got a similar post from a reply to Lox asking if i was heading in the right direction and the reply was "There will be more information for you soon, Arthur."

Re: 2nd email from Spearman - "Part two of three" (2:08 clock)
compass oints depend on your point of reference. i think of london as in the north.
Re: 2nd email from Spearman - "Part two of three" (2:08 clock)
I was just going to repeat that. SE is Oxford. So that prob means the compass arrow is the devil, as it's SW and the constant 3 is N - you think?
Re: 2nd email from Spearman - "Part two of three" (2:08 clock)
Anyone got 2.08 on Derren's CD or p.208 in his book maybe?
Time is running backwards and there are 16 mins between 3.31 and 3.15 and there are 7 mins between 3.15 and 2.08 - a total of 23 mins.
